for School purposes, unless the barracks, owned by the Government (recently vacated by the troops stationed there) but built upon the Land of a citizen of that place, can be secured by an order from the General Com'd this Military District, for the purposes desired. I understand that the agreement entered into, secured the buildings to the Government as long as there was need for them. At present there is correspondence between the Military Commissioner Stationed at Marion and Genl. Canby in reference to the premises. Unless we secure one of the rooms of the Barracks in question it will be necessary to hold the house now rented for School purposes at a rental of $8.00 per month.
