Farmville, Va. Nov. 2, 1869
Rev. R. M. Manly-
Supr. of Education

Dear sir-
By the advice of Capt. Jackson, I appeal to you for counsel and assistance under the following circumstances.
When I vacated two rooms of this building for Military use, it was with the express understanding that they were to be returned when were needed for school purposes. During the summer, Capt. Collins repeatedly assured me that he would retire at the demands of the school. I reported this fact to the society, and they accordingly determines to re-open the school. On my return to Farmville, I informed Capt. Collins that the whole building would probably be needed.
