Dear Sir:
Yours of the 14th asking for information in regard to the nature and expense of the repairs is received.
The steps are needed for the school-room door, the old ones have given way, making is necessary for the smaller children to be lifted into the house. 
A few new posts to prevent the building from settling. Your attention was called last summer to the open floor. The spaces are now large enough for a cat to pass through. While I was north the soldiers and Capt. Collin's derkey stole from my room bedding &c to the amount of $30 - in so doing they destroyed
