Dear Sir:
The bearer, Geo. W. Johnson, goes to Richmond in the hope of obtaining a school at Ashland. Knowing that I was in Richmond last year he has requested me to write a word to you in his favor. During his residence in Lynn, he has been well and favorably known, & has been a great favorite with our citizens. He has been a pupil in our Grammar & High schools, and from his teachers I hear that he made rapid improvements under their tuition — as to his degree of proficiency in the branches which he pursued, I cannot testify from my own
