Guilford Station Jan 10th 1870

Dr Sir.
As one week has elapsed since I agreed to write you concerning the school at Guilford I thought I would not delay any longer, even if I am not prepared to give you all the information required. I called a meeting on the first day of January, had rather a small turnout as it was such a short notice what few were there contributed about $60. sixty dollars. I told them they must raise two hundred in order to receive 3 hundred from the Government. So they are still to work to see what they can do & I think they will be able to raise about that amount. & if they can get about $300 from the Government they will be able to build just such a house as they
