I have the honor to herewith give you a list of the new schools this year with the number of month they were in operation April 30th
1. Rosetta Lanning's school Coolwell Amherst Co 7 mo.
2. Yellow Branch School Campbell Co 3 1/2 mo.
3. Holcombe Crossing or Bellevue School Bedford Co 3 mo. 
4. Wm H. Richardson's School Holcombe Rock Bedford Co 3 1/2 mo.
5. Timothy Smith's School Thaxton's Switch Bedford Co 3 mo.
6. Bunker Hill School Bedford Co 3 mo.
7. Priscilla Johnson's Near Fincastle Botetourt Co 5 mo.
8. Wm F. Banister's Near Fincastle Botetourt Co 4 mo.
9. Robert Hayden Retreat Franklin Co 2 mo. 
Mrs. Lanning taught from Oct 1st to April 30th
Yellow Branch School was taught 2 months by Thomas Y Scott afterwards 1 1/2 months by Wm G Phillips. No 3. was taught by Henry Johnson from Sept 1st to Nov. 1st. He being desirous to prepare
