Rev R.M. Manly
         Dear Sir,
Your favor for April was received. I had hopes to get down to White Stone to see the teacher, to day, to have his report ready to send to you with mine but it has rained for three days steady and is still raining. Mr Brownlee left my house this morning for Warsaw Rich Co and is very much interrested in behalf of the collored people there, (he is formerly from Ohio) I gave him a line for you. I know something of the need of the people but Dr Douglas & Brownlee more than I. Dr D is a native of the place but a good republican. The people expect to send him to Congress this year.
