Hanover C.H. V.A. June 6th,1870

Mr. Manly Sir,
Although I have been as good an economist as possible, yet I find the wages allowed me monthly is not sufficient to support my necessary wants, and expenses, although it was ample for that purpose at first.
I assure you that I abhor every sort of. extravagance, but the small matter which I ask as an addition [[to]] your former allowance, is absolutely necessary. My School has increasted to [[crossedout]] some extent, and I [[/crossedout]] sixty nine Scholars, and I have the promis of several small coming in this month. The people faithfully promised to pay [[with their]] dues at a short period.
