8th. There is no Government buildings or land here.
Land can be purchased at some of these places I know and at liberal prices.  Two or three acres should be purchased so that if it became necessary to send white teachers & they could not get board, a house for a teacher could be put up on the lot. We have found this to be necessary on account of the determination of the people not to board "yankee" teachers.

10th The feeling is varied for the last two or three weeks there has been nothing said against school, so far as I can hear, except that some of the people fear they will perish because they wont stay at home and work. It is nevertheless by no means good. The better portion of the people are favorable, but really dare not act.
