Attention is respectfully invited to the excellent report of Lieut. Hemplin Asst. Supt. which is the best received and was the first received; such responses to orders are usual with that officer.

It is regretted that such a wide field for for schools as the counties of Accomac and Northampton should have received such little attention from its Asst Supt Maj. French.

Two schools were sustained there last winter by the Am. Miss. Association and from personal investigation I am satisfied that from one hundred to three hundred children (Col'd) in these counties are greatly in need of school [[purchgs?]] and would gladly attend school. These counties are thickly settled and my estimate is low.

If I thought a satisfactory complete report could be obtained form Maj. French from returning his report I would do so; but I think it would be of little use

Capt Brooks Asst Supt reports satisfactorily.
I think one or two colored teachers could succeed well in New Kent Co.

The Report Capt Warren Asst Supt County of Warwick is highly commendable but
