I have the honor to make the following consolidated report of Schools in compliance with Circular No 23. On the Sub District comprising the Counties Montgomery Pulaski and Gibson
I would recommend the establishment of four schools, one at Christiansburg one at Blacksburg, one at Parisburg and on at Newbern, a large number of pupils could be got to attend school at Christiansburg Blacksburg and Newbern say about one hundred day scholars and at Parisburg about fifty, in Christiansburg there are no suitable Buildings available for school purposes. There is a lot containing less that an acre of ground on the Main road to the Depot, just out side of the limit of the Town that could be purchased for the sum of two hundred dollars, if secured at an early day the location is one of the most desirable in the Vicinity of Christiansburg except the lower portion of the ground which is occasionally, overflowed with water in times of
