Plantation May 6 1867

Maj A. W. Bolenius

Sir
I received your note, and now reply to it. the Brig Jacob Lane has disobeyed my orders
several times, left his work to fish gave me impudence, refused to haul wood for me when told him, wanted pay for it and stole corn
from my mules twice which I can prove by federal witnesses, that I call Maj breaking his contract grossly, and not only that his wife stole plants out of my wife garden
and when she was told of abused my wife shamefully, all of which Maj I cannot put up with any longer, things have got to such a
pitch that we cannot stay together any longer. I wish you to say to him what I am willing to pay him for what work he and his wife has done and allow him 3 months rations
and he pay me all over that, and please to give him his orders to leave my plantation immediately after I settle with him, Mr Cuy Kendall who lives in the next house to your office can tell you all about Jacob Lane and his meanness, hoping the few lines
