special privileges to one group not enjoyed by others of equal status and ability should be purged.

Insofar as is possible, acceptance should be denied anyone who is prompted by other than a sincere wish to aid in the common problem, with no presage of personal gain or success as such.

In summary, this seems to be a likely criterion: Utilize every person and every ability in time of national crisis; but only for as qualifications allow. There is no cause to presuppose another conflict such as this. Should it come, however, there would be no reason to refuse the wish of any class or sex to serve, but only within its studied limitations acknowledged or otherwise.
