154 Wilmington N.C. May 1st, 1867 Major General L Thomas Adjt Gen'l U.S.A. Washington D.C 290 General, In compliance with Paragraph No. 468 Revised Army Regulations. I have the honor to report; that I am on duty as Superintendent Southern District of North Carolina Bureau RF and A.L by virtue of Special order No.50 from Hd Qr's Ass't Commissioner of North Carolina, dated Raleigh NC April 6th 1867; having been ordered by Circular Letter from the Adjutant Generals Office dated 28th December 1866; to resume my duties The Freedmen's Bureau, after my Examination and acceptance of appointment in the Regular Army, and being mustered out of service as a Volunteer Officer. I have the honor to be General Very Respectfully Your Obdt Servant Allan Rutherford Captain 44th U.S Infantry
