General

In compliance with instructions I have the honor to state that I attended the late term school of the Court of pleas and [[Jn]] Sessions of Sampson Co N.C. The name of the Chairman of Said Count is Rich[[?]] C Holmes residing in Clinton Sampson Co. N.C. The name of the solicitor is Lucian Holmes residing in Clinton Sampson Co. N.C.

These was only one freedman charged with larceny which was clearly proven though a slight offense and he received one lash . There were 36 cases of bastardy 33 of which were against freedpersons.

The above is all of importance that related to freedmen.

I have the honor to be General.

Very Respectfully
Your obedient servant
