Capt. Rutherford,
Sir,
I entered into an agreement with some laborers and that agreement was approved by you. That agreement bound them to come to my farm and labor with me for [[strikethrough]] twelve [[/strikethrough]] the balance of year at $15 per month I was to pay them $7 1/2 at the end of every month,-and I feel bound to carry out my obligation, the names of laborers are Lewis Nixon James Miller & Sollimon Sanders and James Miller is the only one that has come so I would like to know what to do about the other hands. I suppose they have never left Wilmington you will please instruct me what to do, if it is in your powers please send them to me I am willing to excuse them for the time they have lost if they will come now.
