Sir: I am in recpt of yours of Oct. 1st. My friend Mr. Sutterloh [[?]] will exhibit to you the paper of indentures for the boy Robertson. There is at present no school here for colored children; as soon as there is, I shall send him as obligated. For the present, my own children teach the boy his letters of reading as much as he is capable.
Therefore, I could not, as at present, school him any further than I have done. If I am required to send him to school where there is none, I cannot help it.
