Geo. Page (Freedman,) complains that his sisters children "Catherine" "Joe" and "Ashe" were bound to Mr. Elick Merritt who lives near Taylors Bridge in Sampson Co. by Maj. Foster of this Bureau. He says that his sister is dead and that Mr Merritt has ill treated the children and has not complied with the Indentures in having them taught to read & write. Page says he is full able to provide for these children and wishes to have the Indentures cancelled.

You will investigate this case as soon as possible, and report all particulars.
