To the Officer in charge of the Bu R F. and A.L of Natches Miss

Sir
I have the honor to request information on behalf of a Freedman named "Henry Filmore Scales," who states that he formerly belonged to a man named Edward (or Edmond) Dixon, living about 12 miles from Natches, that he was sold by Dixon after Jackson Miss, was captured by the Union forces. He is very anxious to hear of or from his mother, and any information you could obtain for him would be most thankfully received. Henry is now living with Mr E Chadwick of Topsail Sound in the County of New Hanover and the reply to this can be sent to this office.

I Am Sir
