Colonel,

I have the honor to nominate Mr. Henry C. Ireland for the position of Clerk in my Office at a salary of One Hundred Dollars pr. month.

Mr. Ireland served during the war as a Private Soldier in the 6th Connecticut Volunteers and was detailed as a Clerk at the Provost Marshal's Office here, in the early part of 1865. - This appointment is to fill the place of my present Clerk Mr. H.H. Walton who has gone North of account of Sickness.  This appointment to date from August 1st, 1867 as Mr. Ireland is now assisting.
