I came to Wilmington N.C. and gave my discharge to a man who claimed to be a Claim Agent whose name you will see on this receipt which I send enclosed. his office at that time (which was last February) was opposite the market - on the northern side of market. St. and I have never heard from it since. if you think I can get it and you will attend to it for me I will fee my self under obligation to you for a part of the money. you will wish to me what you think of it if you can get it - or if you cant whom I gave it to him (the discharge) mean he had me sworn at the Court house in Wilmington before the county court clerk. the man who was in copartnership with this Agt was staying with Mr. Ryttenberg a dry goods store on market St. his name was Sickles or Singles I forget wich you will please do what you can for me I am Sir your obdt Servt Corporal Charles Eady Formerly of the 37th U.S.A. inft P.S. here is the receipt which I got when I gave my discharge.
