Brownsville Tenn. Nov 4th 1865. Edward J. Read-
Encloses copies of Telegrams, from the agent of the Freedmen's Bureau at Brownsville to the Supt. of Memphis and the answer, Directing cognizance of matters between the white man & colored man from July 1st, 1863, when the colored men could be sold and purchased; and states that if that is the law of the land it will open the door to frauds & forgeries, thinks it proper to send the President a copy of this order.
