April 2nd

John Robinson freedman, makes complaint that he worked for John A Robinson of this Co. during the entire summer of 1865 on his farm. That Mr Robinson agreed to give him 1/3 of all the crop he raised but when the crop was gathered he refused to give him "John", any thing.

Action.
Wrote to Mr John A Robinson to appear before me & show cause why he should not fulfill his contract. Mr R. appeared & showed that through the neglect of John he had failed to make more than his rations, that he did agree to give him 1/3 of the crop but that John [[was?]] have taken out of his share what he advanced to him for his support, & he failed to make any more than that

Phoebe Shaw freedwoman, states that she worked with her daughter all of the summer of 1865 for Mr Daniel Shaw, That when the crop was gathered he refused to give them any part of said crop.

Action.
April 2nd  Wrote to Mr Daniel Shaw that he must settle with Phoebe, he still refusing I ordered him to pay her 12 bushels of corn or I would have him arrested & punished. He finally paid her the 12 bushels which I ordered him to.

April 2nd
Edith McMillan, a freedwoman states that she worked for Mr Andrew Shaw of this county during the summer of 1865. That he promised to give her a share of the crop, but when gathered he refused to do so.

Action
Wrote to Mr Shaw that he must settle with Edith immediately, which he did by paying her Ten (10) bushels of corn
