Socialites Will Attend "Wings of Mercy" Ball 
Miami and Palm Beach society will gather tomorrow night at the Colonial inn, Hallandale, for the "Wings of Mercy" ball, designed to raise funds for disaster relief in the Unites States and China. The affair is sponsored by Relief Wings, Inc., a national group headed by Gill Rob Wilson, Mrs. Henry Hill Pierce, Ray Newton, Clement M. Biddle and Ruth Nichols. Miss Nichols, holder of many feminine aviation records, has established Miami headquarters at Macfadden-Deauville hotel. Funds raised by Relief Wings will be used to procure and operate ambulance planes "for humanitarian use in civilian service, in war or peacetime disasters, at home and abroad." Al Hanson, Miami airport director, has been named to head the Florida air relief group, and will co-ordinate civilian aviation in this state into a unit ready to fly doctors, nurses and medical supplies into any area struck by disaster. Mrs. H. Sayre Wheeler started the local relief party with a $1,000 contribution. All facilities of the Colonial Inn, which is starring such entertainers as Paul Whiteman, Sophie Tucker, Harry Richman, Joe E. Lewis, Ann Sutherland, Connie Constant, Vera Shea and the Chandra-Kaly dancers, will be available for guests of the ball. The Greater Miami regional committee sponsoring the ball includes Mrs. Dorothy Lee Warm, C. L. Clements, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred I. Barton, Mrs. McAlpin Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Buswell, Mr. and Mrs. William Danforth, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gannett, Mr. and Mrs. robert Gifford, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Lynch, jr., Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Mahoney, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sykes.
