MAYOR PROCLAIMS CHINA WEEKS FROM APRIL 12-19
AS UNITED CHINA RELIEF DRIVE BEGINS

Mayor  [[blank]]  proclaimed "China Week" in  [[blank]] from April 12 to 19 in brief ceremonies at City Hall today to launch the local United China Relief campaign for $ [[blank]].
Local services clubs, women's groups, professional and educational organizations will cooperative in the drive by staging a series of spectacular events during China Week, Mr. [[blank]] [[blank]], chairman of the United China Relief committee announced.
Mayor [[blank]]'s proclamation urged individual participation of every citizen in the observance of the week by means of contributions to the national drive to raise $7,000,000 for relief assistance to the hard-pressed Chinese people. It followed similar proclamations by governors and mayors in states and cities throughout the country setting aside this week as period of sympathy for our Chinese allies.
Throughout the week scores of pretty members of the local women's committee of United China Relief will solicit funds in an intensive city-wide sidewalk campaign, while other volunteer workers will canvass business organizations, firms and individuals for gifts, Mr. [[blank]] said.
China Week will commence with special religious services on Sunday, April 12, which has been designated as "Church Day". The cooperation of the ministries of all denominations in marking this day with appropriate sermons and ceremonies has been assured by Reverend [[blank]], president of the [[blank]] Ministers Association.
On Monday, "Cultural Relations Day", the [[blank]] Museum will open a special exhibition devoted to Chinese objects d'art. The [[blank]] library
