(SYSTEMATIC THUMPING OF A MAN'S CHEST)

SMITTY
Well, Doc -- How's the patient?

DOCTOR
Extremely well, Smitty. For a man who was burned as badly as Fisher was -- he's getting along fine.

FISHER
Never mind the soft soap, Doc -- when am I going to fly again?

DOCTOR
Well....we'll see about that in due time.

FISHER
Tomorrow?

SMITTY
Hey -- take it easy. You've been through the mill. As a matter of fact I still don't see how you got yourself back to base hospital. We thought sure we'd never see you again.

FISHER
Listen, Smitty -- I'got to get up in the air again.

SMITTY
You do as the doctor tells you to do. Stick around a couple more days and see how you feel.

FISHER
I can't wait a couple more days. The Goup'll be disbanding in a week -- and I've got to get at least one more ship before then.

SMITTY
Only one? I thought you needed two to fill out your quota.
