Sir:-
I have the honor to inform you that I was captured with my Regmt. 101. Pa. V. Apl. 20 64, at Plymouth, N.C. and was shortly after ordered to the U.S. Genl Hospital Fort Monroe, VA; and having labored there some six months was, upon the recommendation of the Surgeon in charge, through the Surgen Gen'l, transferred, an appointed Hospital Chaplain U.S.A. - I labored on in the Hospital until Your Divisions were reduced to one, and applied to be transfered into the Freedmeen's Bureau, and was about to be appointed when, very unexpectedly, I was honorably mustered out, my service being no longer needed.
