Sir,

I have the honor to request that a company of men be sent to this place to be placed at my disposal in making arrests &c.

I make this request because it has been found that the company now here is not sufficiently large to admit of sending the number of details necessary; frequently long distances, to bring to justice men guilty of flagrant outrages against the freedmen, and because, by having a force by me, which I can use at a moments notice, the delay which would be incurred in sending through the different Hd. Qrs. for them, and which might be productive
