April 30, 1940 Mr. G.A. Thompson, CanadiansAirways Limited, Winnipeg, Man. Dear Mr. Thompson: I would like to supplement the enclosed application and copies of letters of reference with this statement: I have had considerable experience as a flight instructor. At present I am engaged as a flight instructor for the Civilian Pilots Training Program in this country. I had to pass an exceptionally stiff oral, written, and flight examination to qualify. The Dean of Newark College of Engineering ( Dr. Frank Carvin) liked my work so well that he has asked me to teach the Advanced Ground School next semester, at his College . This is to be done in connection with my flight training work. As this work I am now doing is in some respects similar to the type of work you would demand, I feel sure I could do a very good job. In your letter you ask me to state what salary I expected. That is rather difficult to state, because I do not know just what kind of work I will be required to do. Very truly yours, Michael A.
