into being, nor why, nor do they know very much about what happened along the way between the time of its origin and today--its early day trials, hardships, and the almost unbelievable sacrifices of its early organizers and character members to give the air line pilots the finest and most complete representation they enjoy today. Headquarters is preparing a story, historical in nature, on the origin, progression, and achievements of the Air Line Pilots Association which, it is hoped, will be completed before the next convention. In the interim, there appeared in one of the country's leading aviation magazines, "AIR TRANSPORT", in its November, December, 1943, and January, 1944, issues, a serial story titled, "PILOT UNION PRESIDENT" which is excellently written and very descriptive of the origin, progression and achievements of the Air Line Pilots Association and its principal organizer, key figure, and first president, David L.
