Section 2101 - Fuel and Load Computation (Continued)

6. In computing the load placed aboard an airplane, the weights of passengers, baggage, mail, express, company material, ballast and crew must be considered. To facilitate this computation, Airplane Load Computation Form will be prepared for every flight that departs from any station. No airplane is to be dispatched unless:

(a) The total load does not exceed the maximum allowable load.

(b) The distribution of the load is in accordance with the loading plan for the airplane.

(c) The records of the Airplane Load Computation are absolutely correct.

7. In computing additional payload through the reduction of fuel, allow six pounds for each gallon of gasoline by which the airplane's capacity fuel load is reduced. Add the total of this allowance to the payload given for the airplane in the Ship and Motor Directory and the total will be the allowable payload. After reducing fuel in this manner, tanks will e stick-measured to determine actual amount of fuel remaining in tanks.

8. An allowance of ten gallons (60 pounds) may be made for run-up of motors before take-off and used to increase payload without draining fuel, but this allowance shall be shown only on the Load Computation Form and not deducted from the amount of fuel shown on the Flight Release Form--which must show the actual amount of gasoline in the airplane tanks at the time it leaves the loading ramp.

9. Stations other than regular refueling stations will compute additional payload giving effect to the weight of fuel burned by the airplane since departure from last fueling stop by calculating on a basis of 90 gallons per hour average consumption times six pounds per gallon. Refueling stations will use stick measurement and determine actual amount of fuel in tanks.

10. Fuel reductions may e authorized only by the Dispatcher on duty, and in no event will airplanes be dispatched with less fuel than the amount specified by the Dispatcher on duty.
