RADIO RANGE PROCEDURE (Cont'd.)

Section 3601 - General (Cont'd.)

2. (Cont'd).
(a) [[underlined]] Initial Approach Altitude: (Cont'd.)[[/underlined]]
Company Ground Station. Ground Station will acknowledge and give Station "Altimeter Setting", "Pressure Altitude" and surface wind.

[[arrow]] (b) [[underlined]] Shuttle [[/underlined]]
The shuttle procedure will apply only when it is necessary to cross the station on first approach at an altitude above the specified initial approach altitude. Shuttle procedure will be accomplished by descending back and forth on the initial approach leg (unless otherwise specified) between the cone and a designated fix or approximately four minutes from the cone, until reaching the initial approach altitude.

(c) [[underlined]] Final Approach Leg [[/underlined]]
After having definitely proved position over the Station at authorized instrument approach altitude, proceed away from the Station on the leg designated as final approach log descending to the altitude specified for the procedure turn.

(d) [[underlined]] Procedure Turn [[/underlined]]
This is the turn off the final approach leg to reverse direction and return to final approach altitude over the Range Station. Alter the course 45° to the right or left as specified; fly this heading from 45 to 90 seconds depending on signal change and possible drift; make normal 180° turn away from the Range Station (rate 180° per minute - 15° bank); fly this heading until the beam is intercepted, then follow "on course" to Range Station. The direction of a procedure turn is the direction of turning to right side or left side of the beam as viewed from the cockpit. The minimum altitude specified for the procedure turn shall be maintained throughout the turn and unless otherwise stated, procedure turns will be to the right.
