Mr. W. W. Betts - 2 February 16, 1948 It is a mighty fine plan but there may be some changes necessary before it will be completely applicable to air line pilots. When reading in the newspapers about a railroad man retiring, somehow the feeling is conveyed to me that he has nothing to worry about -- everything is taken care of, thanks to the Railway Retirement Act. I appreciate your writing so fully and expressing the deep interest you have in this problem. When the explanatory pamphlet is issued, I would like very much to hav your comments. In the interim, please assure your council we will proceed along common-sense lines and we're not going to do anything spontaneous or abrupt about the air line pilots' pension legislation. With kind regards, I am Sincerely yours, AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION David L. Behnoke, President dlb/mh ed enc. bc: C. Stiles A. Foster M. Gitt M. Latimer
