[[underlined]] Maps

The new Albany and Burlington sectional maps have recently been issued to all pilots. It would be appreciated if you could turn in your old Albany and Burlington maps to the Stewardess Department for issuance to the stewardesses, if you no need for them.

[[underlined]] Sealing of Fuse Panel-DC-3

Relative to a pervious memorandum cautioning pilots to be sure that they use the correct replacement in changing fuses in flight, it has been decided to seal the fuse panel with safety wire and a lead seal so that it will be obvious to maintenance personnel when pilots have found it necessary to open the fuse panel and change fuse. At the next station where maintenance is available the panel will be re-sealed after an investigation of the fuse panel shows that the proper fuses are installed. It is requested that a notation be placed on the log sheet when it has been found necessary to open the fuse panel. In connection therewith, all pilots are requested not to attempt to balance generators in flight. The meters installed in the aircraft are not sufficiently accurate to insure that generators are properly balanced. While it is required that ships be run up after arrival at maintenance stations, this short time required to balance the generators on the ground procludes the risk of improper voltages in electrical system and consequent radio troubles.
An amperage differential of 10 amps is considered within limits. Should a greater differential occur, a notation should be made in the log.

[[underlined]] Radio Transmitters, Channel Selection

All pilots are cautioned not to change the frequency channel selector on remotely controlled transmitters when those transmitters are off. Should this be done, the power required to heat the filaments would be considerably in excess of the capacity of the aircraft electrical system. This will result in the motor, which changes frequency, running too slowly to prevent its overheating and possibly burning out.
