[[underline]]TO ALL COLONIAL PILOTS[[/underline]]

Dear Member:

In view of the great amount of interest and a certain amount of misinformation that has been circulated relating to the Colonial situation, I thought it would be atmosphere clearing to send you a copy of the Examiner's report in CAB Docket No. 3964 respecting the trans-Canada Airlines Montreal-New York service. On the one hand, it would appear that Colonial is functioning under a serious disadvantage in this case at the present time due to the overall international aspects involved, international agreements, and so forth, and the position of our present administration for strengthening our international relationship in every way possible.

On the other hand, the Examiner clearly indicates that so long as Colonial operates its air line in line with good business practices, there isn't any reason why the company should be made to suffer any losses resulting from competitive service. In all probability, that's easier said than done. Of course, all these things are conjecture, and, in the final analysis, it's difficult to predict the outcome and the actual effect, but on the whole, situation is far from hopeless.

In any event, read the Examiner's report. It at least expresses his views.

Sincerely yours,
AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION
