SUBJECT COLONIAL AIRLINES ADJUSTMENT BOARD, GRIEVANCES, AND NEW YORK CITY VIOLATIONS AGAINST PILOTS

Dear Mr. Schy:

This morning I received a conference telephone cell from Messrs. Clark and Git on Colonial. They requested that we appoint new members on their Adjustment Board. Chairman Clark suggested Macklin and Silver. Please, therefore, prepare these letters for my signature and send them Washington air special-- the Hamilton Hotel, where I will sign and mail them.

Messrs. Clark and Gitt also brought up the matter of the violations that apparently the City of New York is beginning to file against pilots. This is another situation that smells of the barnyard. We haven't got enough trouble. Now the City of New York is going to play smart with their big bellied policemen. We are not lawbreakers and are willing to do what's right; but if they really want to get smart, we'll by pass the whole cow town until they wake up and decide that they're part of America and not Russia.

In any event, I know very little about the details. It seems that one of the pilots is already charged with something.

Another matter that was discussed this morning was the Gitt grievance case. In the light of the rather involved character of this grievance case and the seriousness of the New York traffic violation situation, I suggest that you handle this assignment yourself. The grievance hearing is Monday; therefore, it will be necessary for you to familiarize yourself and probably arrive sufficiently in advance of this time to be able to coordinate your efforts with Gitt and the local situation generally. Please be governed accordingly.

Sincerely yours,

AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION
