Dear Bob:

Some time ago in June we made up a "kitty" or loan to help out a worthy brother ALPA member and pay his back dues. You contributed $100.00 and I made up the difference or total of $205.70 i n [in] order to pay up all of this individuals indebteness [indebtedness] to ALPA. (Strike fund, assements [assessments], and dues.)

Since that time other pilots have "chipped in" and helped us with this loan. Those men are: H. E. Clark, A. K. Murray, N. J. Uttenweiler, C. Wenzel, S. C. Barnitt, E. S. Mackay, J. Colombo, and H. Alsop.

As a result of this collection I have returned to you a check of $79.43. ($100.00 less a contribution from you of $20.57) I am also returning to Charlie Wenzel a check of $4.43. (The difference between his check and $20.57)

I am also sending to each member who contributed a copy of this letter so he will have a record of this transaction and his contribution.

It is my hope that we will be able to take this problem up at the next regular meeting and handle it in some suitable and equitable manner. As a suggestion I would like to see every pilot of Council 28 make either a loan or a contribution to a fund to take care of any worthy member who finds himself in dire straights or temporarily embarassed [embarrassed] so that he is not able to meet his ALPA obligations and is in need of a loan to help out. This fund should also be used to pay back our immediate loan.

Thanks to you, and all of the other people who have helped us to take care of a worthy member, I am.

Sincerely yours,

M.A. Gitt
