Dear Mike:

Mother's Day is just that, to most of the country. But in your case, it becomes "Father's Day To Retire". Ruth and I can only extend very best wishes for some happy days - altho I know you are not pleased to leave, at least now. So it goes!

I hope you invite all your relatives to the party that I suppose will be given by EAL, on such an "honorable day". Those 28 years went by fast, in many ways, eh? And yet I would be remiss if I failed to compliment you for being the guy you are. There are countless guys who "never make it" even when given the opportunity. So while I can be complimentary I have to be truthful, too.

We arrived from SJU on Monday 22 April, on 922. He had to hold "just long enough" to miss the 5:30 Mohawk flight. When it came time to get on the next Mohawk, at 10PM, Ruth says she saw you lugging your flight bag , but saw you just too late to whistle or call. When I came into view we were both uncertain what to do, and then it was also time to get aboard the last flight. Question: was that you! If yes, sorry we could not talk for 5 minutes.

In your freedom, call on us if you come up this way. I will be in touch with you this Summer when I go to Long Island for a few days. Ok?

Sincerely,
Larry

I spent a few days at Riveria Beach, and another retired Capt (from TWA), Bob Shields now flies an Aero Commander for a contractor, a few days a week, so he is happy. Otherwise he is out fishing or visiting.
