Mr. Charles H. Ruby, President
Air Line Pilots Association
55th Street & Cicero Avenue
Chicago, Illinois 60638

Dear Charlie:

Up to this time we of ALPA have been unable to aid our Age 60 fellow pilots. This new law, along with President Johnson's statement opens a clear and tactful opportunity for quick action to rescind this arbitrary age limit.

On our recent visit to Washington, we learned:
1) The FAA Medical Department received orders from "above" to set an age limit.
2) There is no data or other justification to set any age.
3) There was no Hearing on the subject.
4) The Age 60 limit was set under the last Republican Administration, but the present FAA Administrator is "comfortable" with Age 60, and has no reason to change it.

This new Law gives them a "reason" to change, and a request by Mr. George Meany, President of AFL-CIO, to uphold President Johnson's statement would stimulate action.

It will be greatly appreciated if you will make a request through Mr. Meany and the Secretary of Labor that the Age 60 limiting rule be reviewed.

Sincerely yours,
AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION
