Amendments of 1967 to reduce the age level of eligibility to 60 for air line pilots who cannot be employed in this capacity under present rules, but to no avail.

Therefore, I would urge you to give most serious consideration to lifting the age limit for air line pilots from 60 to 65,[[strikethrough]] or to at least 62. [[/strikethrough]] Anything less would, in my opinion, be contrary to the spirit of the statement of findings and purose of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 which states, in part: "It is therefore the purpose of this Act to promote employment of older persons based on their ability rather than age; to prohibit arbitrary age discrimination in employment; to help employers and workers find ways of meeting problems arising from the impact of age on employment."

You know I greatly appreciate your giving serious and prompt attention to this matter, and I look forward to hearing from you on this matter.
Warmest regards, and
Believe me,
Always sincerely,
Claude Pepper
