General William P McKee, Administrator
essary is our prompt and joint evaluation of the effects of the very significant developments and changes which have overtaken the industry setting for the age 60 rule in the period of nearly ten years since its creation. Like any other rule affecting our rapidly-changing industry, the basis for this rule periodi-cally needs to be updated.
We know of many good reasons why FAA might be expected to publicly welcome and endorse such an effort; we know of no good reasons why such an effort should be summarily rejected.
Accordingly, it is requested that this letter be deemed an application to you as Administrator for reconsideration, review and reversal of the rejection, by the FAA's Flight Standards Service, of the request by this Association for a public evidentiary hear-ing and for appropriate interim protection of the employment rights of affected airline pilots.
Very truly yours,
AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION
