Dear Mr. Gitt:

I was very sorry to hear this morning that you have just severed your connection with Bennet Air Services, but I hope that the new venture on which you are embarking will prove to be a step further in the right direction and employment elsewhere to your liking.
I was particularly sorry to hear of this change from a personal point of view, because it comes right in the middle of the course of instruction in flying which I have been taking and which has been under your supervision. I should, however, like to take the opportunity of thanking you for the assistance which you have given me and to say how glad I am to have had benefit of your able and experienced instruction. I have found throughout that you have been a great help, particularly because of your insistence upon precision throughout. Any old method has not been good enough for you and the requirement that your student must be thoroughly familiar with one stage before allowing him to pass to another has certainly added to a confidence which I have gained. When, for instance, it came to my first solo flight and you breezily stepped out of the plane and just told me to try again what we had been doing before the result of this was that I had not the slightest feeling of nervousness and that no sooner was I off the ground than I felt - well I am flying now, and why not? - I am thoroughly enjoying this and I am master of my craft.
