"Dissatisfied" With Incumbents Says Fred Zissu
"The enthusiastically favorable reaction of residents of Kings Point to the formation of an opposition party in the forthcoming village election has been far more widespread than we had imagined it would be and clearly indicates the extent of the dissatisfaction that exists with the present incumbents," Fred Zissu, campaign manager of the newly formed Community Party, declared yesterday.
That party has named three candidates in the election scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, the first opposition slate to be formed in such an election in 23 years. For Mayor it is running George I. Kern and for Trustees Michael A. Gitt and David Horowitz.
"The issue in this campaign is very simple," said Zissu, "and the reason why it has become necessary after all these years to contest the election is very clear: Are the residents of Kings Point to have the right to decide for themselves what they wish to do concerning important and basic village matters

Insurgents Are "Irresponsible" Says Al Swan
The so-called "True Facts" pamphlet issued by the insurgent group in next Tuesday's Village of Kings Point election was called a "pack of patently irresponsible pie-in-the-sky promises" by Alfred J. Swan, chairman of the 750-man committee for the re-election of the incumbents.
Swan said that the "reckless and spurious" promises were "designed to lull the residents of the village into believing they can convert Kings Point Park into a golf course without breaching their legal and moral responsibilities to the entire Great Neck Community."
At the same time, the Committee To Preserve Kings Point Park announced its endorsement of the incumbent Eisenberg-Meyer-Kalnick ticket. The Committee's endorsement was based primarily upon its approval of the action taken by the village administration to maintain the status of Kings Point Park.
