[[Dice rolling?]]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
[[??, some name]] is that still there?

{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
No.

{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
No.

[01:11:36]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
It's now the, uh, Chinatown. You know, that's, I-I think, as a Chinese woman, you know, I was like, "Hmm, that's a terrible name."

{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
Mm-hmm.

[01:11:50]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
'Cause then it, you know.

{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
Yeah.

[01:11:56]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
But I, I, I do have to say that, being with uh you know [[inaudible]] that always felt like it was my job to dispel any kind of um, um, stereotype, you know

[01:12:14]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
that when I meet people I try not to come across as you know behaving very coy-ish or because that's what they expect, I don't know

[01:12:25]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
or um, you know, watching a movie like The World [[of]] Suzie Wong, it's just like uh it's really, you know, it makes you cringe to think about that.

[01:12:35]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
That's how people see, you know the women, um and you know maybe some women are like that but most of us are not, so.

[01:12:54]
{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
Um, since we also have this here, maybe we, you can share with us what you remember. It's the poster for [[Golden Island?]] D.C. which was a radio show—

[01:13:06]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
Right, right

[01:13:07]
{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
Um so, you obviously obviously were close with Wendy Lynn who was one of the people who ran the show.

[01:13:14]
{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
There was also Theo Feng do you remember Theo Feng

[01:13:18]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
You know I can't visualize him, the name is very you know very familiar but I can't think of what he looks like.

[01:13:25]
{SPEAKER name="Samir Meghelli, Ph.D. (Interviewer)"}
So, it was probably Wendy that asked you to do this? Or?

[01:13:30]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
Um, I think it was someone else, cause at the time, I would have been out of school and working.

[01:13:37]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
Um, I-I-was temp, I had a temporary position at the Commission of Civil Rights, and I remember the woman who was, I can't remember her name, she was Japanese-American, um, she was one who—

[01:13:56]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
I had done a school project with the Mountains and the Sun, it was a 10 panel progression and I showed it to them and she said

[01:14:08]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
"Oh this is great, you should do a poster based on this design"

[01:14:10]
{SPEAKER name="Miu Eng (Interviewee)"}
and so that's how this poster came about, and like I mentioned before, I don't remember who did the poetry, but it felt, you know...
