-- materials and I think we ended up saying since we have um we should probably be able to get more photographs from later on um.. to maybe focus more on photographs and um it would be a lot easier to do. And also to um give more of a survey cause we were going from what the 1880s to 1990. And I forget how we decided on it- I think it was our scholars who helped us figure out how to segment it from um.. we decided we wanted something on the Immigration of Peru or Uru[?], the first chinatown definitely by itself, and then figure out how to divide the later part. I think it took about 33 years.. so that seems to be very good um

I'm curious whether growing up in Chinatown, if you had heard at all of the earlier Chinatown Pennsylvania Avenue?

Not really. I think it was only through, you know college reading and just talking to other people about the early china town research and I don't think I knew anything.

Mhm. [in understanding] Yeah, I was kind of, I had been wondering whether there was still talk of that earlier- I mean uh granted it was several decades earlier but I was just-

Yeah, Yeah! And I didn't know anyone who knew because uh let's see cause many of the the old-timers weren't around back then and then we had to go find them if they were living out you know in the suburbs. So I think we probably could have reached further out but then I think we would have been uh we have may been inundated with lots of information-
