Personal Achievements

Brother Burns holds a bachelor of science degree in Pharmacy from Xavier University New Orleans, La. the seat of Beta Tau Chapter (inactive). 
As the president of a Tulsa chapter of the Junior NAACP in 1940 Brother Burns under the expert guidance of brother J.T.A. West engineered the hiring of Tulsa's first Negro Postal Carriers, and a few years later he himself endured the ordeal of being Tulsa's first Negro Postal clerk and since entering the Federal Service in 1948. He has consistently blazed trails in the field of human relations in the Oil Capital City; after opening up the field of Postal Window clerk to Negroes in Tulsa and subsequent to passing the National Supervisory examination he was promoted to the position of Supervisor and serves as an assistant in the Training section with office in the Federal building at this time.
Brother Burns is a past president of Alpha Tau Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, a past commander of the veterans of Foreign Wars. A member of Board of Management YMCA. A Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. Is married to Maxine Robinson of El Paso, Texas and has two lovely daughters Sondra and Jo Anna.
