Reflections Of Life

Juanita Maxine Scott was the second of twelve children born to Jack and Daisy Luvesta Scott on June 21, 1919 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The infant death of her older sister Judith Estelle made her the eldest of her ten siblings. She attended Charles S. Johnson Elementary School, Carver Junior High School, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1937. Juanita's son Kenneth Crockett was reared by his grandfather, Jack Scott, and preceded his mother in death. Juanita moved to San Francisco, California and met and married Floyd Augustus Parry. To their union two children were born, Daisy Luvesta "Dee Dee" and Floyd Augustus Parry, Jr "Butch".
Juanita returned to Tulsa and united with Wallace Nowlin. A Son, Lewis Jack "Punkin" Parry was born. Juanita obeyed the gospel in 1966 at East Virgin Street Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ and a long time member of 10th and Rockford Church of Christ until her health failed. Her present membership is with the Crosstown Church of Christ. Juanita was employed by Hillcrest Medical Center and various Tulsa families. She was an Awarded Volunteer for her many years of service to the Head Start Program. She was also a talented songwriter and poet. "Miss Juanita" will be remembered for her kind and giving heart, and her gentle, quiet spirit.

Juanita and her brother, Julius Warren Scott, are certified 1921 Race Riot Survivors. They are included in the Race Riot Survivors Exhibit located at the Greenwood Cultural Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
