The Same at J.S. Johnson's &c
He says he advised Mr. Johnson to turn the Robbing affair over to me, as Supt. Stewart Co
I would like to know why he did not advise them to turn the Contract, or many part, over to me but he made two or three hundred Dollars by the transaction, and put the Money in his pocket, and returned home, and wrote to you pretending to be a great friend to the freedmen, which I most Sincerely doubt, as I understand he has resigned his position as Supt. in favour Dr Cobb.
Maj Pence nor any one else has forwarded me the names of those Robbers.
Mr Johnson's works is as near or nearer Clarksville than it is to this place, and Mr Johnson's home is at Clarksville. I learned from the Freedmen who were there at the time of the robbing, that only one Freedmen lost any money, and he 15 or 20¢ he with all the balance that left have returned to Mr Johnsons and gone to work, in conclusion I would respectfully ask that Maj Bond return the Money to the Freedmen of Stewart County which he has no right to, whether I am or have been a friend to the Freedmen, is for them and yourself to Say
Truly your obt Servt
Geo M Stewart Supt &c
