Permit me to introduce you Mes [[strikethrough]] sn [[/strikethrough]]. Best & Davenport. Mr Best is a farmer & Justice of the Peace. Came hither some years ago from Penn and is well acquainted in this region. Mr Davenport is from Paducah Ky was a R.R. Contractor during the war - has bought a farm adjoining the village & is improving it for his home. Both are public spirited gentlemen & wish to improve the country and the village in all respects. They hire Freedmen, treat them well and are desirous that all the class may be humanely disposed of for the general good. They can inform you of their present condition & the necessity of my & Maj Babcock's appeal to you last week for extraordinary aid at present.
