Respectfully returned to Chf. Surg. A.C. Swartzwelder USV. inviting his attention to the enclosed paper, with endorsement of Mayor Brown. Agreeably to instructions I visited the col'd family in question yesterday, and found the facts in the case to be substantially as reported by Mr. Sanford - with the exception that I found one of the children dead, and unburied, with its face much disfigured and eaten by cats -

I have rendered such Medical Assistance as the case of those patients demanded, and also left $5.00 with the son, a young man about 18 yrs of age, to procure such articles of diet &c as they needed. The stand much more in need, however, of proper care and nursing them Medical aid
